This refreshing frozen strawberry lemonade is one of the best bourbon drinks I've ever had. It's the perfect boozy, summer drink.
Okay, so here's the deal. This was so good, I could've drunk it in twenty seconds. It would've given me a brain freeze, and I probably would've gotten really drunk really fast, but it has officially become my summer drink of choice. I hope you give it a try!
You'll love this recipe because it's
- a bit smokey
I love bourbon drinks and I love frozen drinks, so this seemed fitting
First, start with strawberries, I used frozen strawberries because that's what I had on hand. If you're using frozen strawberries, be sure to thaw them slightly, so they blend with ease.
If you decide to use fresh berries, add more ice to give this drink a slushie-consistency. You will also need to adjust the maple syrup depending on the sweetness of your strawberries.
How to make this frozen strawberry lemonade with maple bourbon.
Now, I used a maple whiskey, from a local brewery, for a little extra kick. Jim Beam sells a maple-flavored bourbon that's amazing, but you can just add a little extra maple syrup.
To make these bourbon drinks, just add all ingredients to a blender, except the bourbon. I did it this way because I wanted to taste the ingredients, first. I'm glad I did because I needed to add more maple syrup since my strawberries were not very sweet.
After everything is blended together, add your bourbon and enjoy responsibly. Garnish with a curly lemon rind and some fresh mint.
A final note: We all know alcohol may be hazardous to your health if consumed in excess, the operation of machinery or driving after the consumption of alcohol is not advised! Enjoy responsibly!
- 1 cup frozen strawberries (mostly thawed)
- ½ small lemon [juice + zest]
- fresh mint (about 3 small leaves)
- 2 oz bourbon (I used maple flavored bourbon)
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup (to taste)
- 5 -6 ice cubes
- In a blender, add strawberries, lemon, maple syrup, mint, and ice. Pulse until the mixture is a smooth, slushie-like consistency.
- Taste mixture, and add more maple syrup if needed. This will depend on the sweetness of your strawberries. I used 2.5 tablespoons.
- Add bourbon and blend quickly to combine.
- Pour into a serving glass, and garnish with a sprig of fresh mint or lemon rind.
If using frozen strawberries, we want the strawberries to be thawed just enough to be able to move through the blender.
You can use fresh strawberries, just add more ice. Taste to adjust flavorings before adding bourbon.
I used a local maple bourbon, but Jim Beam also makes one -OR- use your favorite bourbon and add extra maple syrup.
